Lontué Valley.
Age 60 year old vines
Terroir specifications Loamy soil, lacking in fertility, with a deep bed of river stones, which ensures excellent
drainage. Hot and dry climate, refreshed by cool breezes from the Claro River,
which borders the vineyard.
Handling Elimination of shoots during spring, removal of interior leaves after set and two selections
of the best grape clusters, one during veraison and the other before harvest.
The grapes were handpicked in 17 kg trays.
HARVEST
Harvest date First week of April 2005
Harvest Brix 24° brix.
Growing season During Spring (Oct/Nov) there was some soft rain, During flowering period, the
temperature was lower than the historic average. The period from Summer until vintage
was hot and dry.
WINEMAKING
Hand harvested grapes, in small 17 kg trays, fermented in TBins of 1.000 liters.4/5
days of cold maceration at 14°c, between 15 days of maceration at 25°c after the
fermentation. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation in barrels or in tank.
Aging 16 months, 50% new French oak, 28% new American oak and 22% in 2 years barrels.
Bottling Unfiltered and bottled in December 2006
